On Tuesday, O Heraldo lensman captured the woman on camera, who was clad in a red saree with golden border, roaming along the road behind the old Secretariat and the Panjim Church lane with two sling bags. At night she would sleep near an electrical store in Sao Tome, for the last two months.

By Tuesday evening, the police traced the woman and dropped her at her brother’s home in Siolim. According to North Goa Superintendent of Police, Nidhin Valsan, the woman was a widow and had no children. She comesfrom a poor family and for years had been sleeping at the bus stop at the roundabout in Siolim.

“Goa Police dropped her at her brother’s house at Siolim,” said SP Valsan.

Earlier in the day, SP Valsan said that police take necessary action whenever such incidents come to their notice.

He also urged the people who had seen the homeless woman to bring it to the notice of the police.

“We have timely intervened and moved shelter less people to notified shelter homes,” he said.

Street Providence founder Donald Fernandes, who runs seven shelter homes across the State had also appealed to the police to admit the woman in one of their homes since she may be mentally challenged and extremely vulnerable.

He has also urged the police to create a team in both the districts with designated officers, who can coordinate with the Street Providence to help the homeless people.
