MARGAO: A brilliant hat-trick by striker Francis Baretto helped Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club thrash Macazana Welfare Club 6-1 in the Salcete Zone GFA’s 3rd Division League, at DYSA ground, Curtorim, Monday.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club led 4-0 at lemon break.
Areal dominated the game and kept their opponents on the back foot throughout the match. Francis, who was thorn in the rival defence, drew first blood in the very 28th minute when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Spurred by the early lead, Areal intensified their forays and doubled the lead in the 27th minute when Francis beat the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
In the 32nd minute, Francis completed his hat-trick when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Alleulia Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with deft placement.
Crossing over, Areal continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges. Prisco Moura inflated the tally for Areal in the 57th minute. Stephen Costa made it 6-0 in favour of Areal in the 66th minute.
Down by 0-6, Macazana went all out and managed to score the consolation goal in the 68th minute when Daniel Estibeiro bulge the net.
Daulat humble Ambelim
At SAG ground, Assolna, a triple strike by striker Daulat Dessai enabled Cuncolim Union humble Ambelim Sports Club 6-2 after leading 4-0 at half time.
Cuncolim Union held the upper hand and virtually toyed the rival weak defence with well orchestrated raids. Cuncolim Union broke the deadlock in the very 3rd minute when striker Archie Fernandes outpaced his markers and unleashed a stiff shot to crash into the net.
Ryan Colaco increased the tally in the 32nd minute. Beston Colaco made it 4-0 in the 34th minute when he punished the rival keeper with adroit placement.
Post resumption, Cuncolim Union dictated terms and kept their opponents on the defensive. Clifton Fernandes reduced the margin for Ambelim in the 46th minute. Unfazed, Cuncolim Union went into attacking mode and striker Daulat who was in thick of action scored his brace in the 64th minute.
In the 81st minute, striker Daulat registered his hat-trick to give his team 6-1 cushion. Jonathan Cardozo reduced the deficit in the 89th minute.
