CURCHOREM: Institute of Ship-Building Technology, Vasco and GAIHMCT, Curchorem emerged champions in the boys chess and carom tournaments respectively in the All-Goa Carrom and Chess tournaments organised by Guardian Angel Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (GAIHMCT), Curchorem under the guidance of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), at Guardian Angel Institute premises, on Saturday.
In the boys chess final, Institute of Ship-Building Technology defeated Agnel Polytechnic, Verna while in the girls final Agnel Polytechnic, Verna outsmarted Government Polytechnic, Bicholim.
In the carom boys final, GAIHMCT outplayed Fr Agnel Institute of Food and Craft and Culinary Sciences, Verna while in the girls final, Agnel Polytechnic defeated Government Polytechnic, Curchorem.
Sharmili Gaunker from Government Polytechnic, Curchorem claimed the title by defeating Pallavi Rao of Agnel Polytechnic, Verna in the individual Carom Championship and Darren Fernandes of GAIHMCT won the title by defeating his classmate Siddharaj Bhosle.
GAIHMCT Principal Fr Joaquim Fernandes and Chess Arbiter Wilson Cruz and IDS Managers awarded the winners. Seven diploma colleges participated.
