PANJIM: In the view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has directed higher secondary schools not to allow Class XII students, having coronavirus positive case in the family or any family member under self quarantine as part of contact tracing, to answer the practical examinations, which are set to begin from March 24.

The Board in fresh set of instructions issued has said that such student may be allowed to answer the practical after theory examinations, which are scheduled from April 26.
Speaking to Herald, Goa Board Chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that in view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, the decision has been taken.
“The student will be permitted to answer the practical post theory exams via offline mode,” he said.
The practical examination for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology (Science), Geography (Arts), Banking, Indian Classical Music and Computer Science subject, will be held in two different batches for two-hour each. However, the Board has now decided to grant additional half-an-hour time for the student to complete the practical.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Board examinations of Class XII, which are otherwise held in February-March, are being held in April-May this year.
As per the final time-table announced, the theory Board examination will begin with English paper for general stream on April 24 and the same will conclude with Geography paper for students of Arts on May 17.
On the other hand, for vocational stream, the exam will end on May 8.
