MARGAO: In the last five years, State Law Department has failed to increase the number of notaries from the current 350 to 450, said Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and informed that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s three requests to Union Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad from 2014 to 2018 have met with muted response.
Lourenco claimed that this is just one proof that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP government at the Centre gives scant regards to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s communication on matters concerning Goa.
According to documents available with Lourenco, three official letters under were made on July 11, 2014, January 22, 2018 and September 24, 2018 by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to the Union Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
“Though the BJP-led government of Goa now and then foolishly trumpets that their party government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is benevolent towards Goa and Goenkars, but in reality, the saffron party is least interested in the State and its people’s welfare. Our CM along with the three MPs is treated like puppets by PM Narendra Modi’s government. Sad to see CM Manohar Parrikar’s communication for the past five years to his party government at the Centre even regarding enhancement of notaries is given a cold shoulder”, Lourenco stated.
