ARAMBOL: The increase in number of road mishaps in the Arambol panchayat area have left the motorist and locals fuming as to the faded markings on the speed humps on main and internal roads are yet to be painted even as the tourist season is at its peak in the coastal belt.
The speed humps were supposed to be re-painted after the monsoon in the wake of arrival of the tourism season however the concerned department’s negligence has been criticised by the locals.

“On Sunday, a foreign lady tourist fell off from her bike after the rider failed to notice the speed hump near Junaswada. Fortunately she escaped with life as there was no traffic,” said a local Vinesh Harmalkar.
Last year Harmal Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal and a voluntary organisation had painted the speed humps.
“The common man and every motorist expects a proper road. We have paid road tax and so it is only fair to provide us with proper roads, signals, speed humps etc,” said a motorist Pradyumn Naik.
