FIR against 4 arrested with Rs 45,000 cash

SANGUEM: Sanguem police filed an FIR against four persons who were found with Rs 45,000 cash stuffed in four envelopes and details of various polling booths on Wednesday, poll officials said.

SANGUEM: Sanguem police filed an FIR against four persons who were found with Rs 45,000 cash stuffed in four envelopes and details of various polling booths on Wednesday, poll officials said. 
The FIR was filed against Prasad Gaokar, Gajanana Raikar, Ravindra Velip and Sushanat Gaokar. A car bearing registration number GA -05 B 9733 in which they were travelling was also seized. They were detained in connection with malpractices ahead of the ZP polls, besides the four envelopes – three stuffed with Rs 10,000 each and one with Rs 5,000 and 53 empty envelopes were found.
Sanguem Police had intercepted a vehicle following a tip off that the occupants in the vehicle were allegedly distributing cash to lure voters at the Rivona ZP elections. After searching the car, police reportedly found cash of Rs 45,000 in an envelope inside the car.  When the occupants in the car failed to justify the presence of the money, the police seized the car and envelopes containing the cash. PSI Sachin Panelkar conducted the panchanama under the supervision of PI Dessai.
