Addressing the media, both the TMC leaders lashed out against the sitting MLA and accused him of ignoring to resolve the important issues of Margao for the last 27 years.

“We can bring a change in Margao,” said Texeira and Amonkar.

Ghanashyam Shirodkar, another accomplice of Kamat joined TMC.

Texeira further questioned the Congress MLA, who was also the Chief Minister of Goa, where is the development in Margao constituency? However, they admitted that the sitting MLA has been able to give government jobs to people from the constituency.

“Yes, we were with Margao MLA for a very long period of time, and we were quiet as there was expectation that change would come. However, we have not witnessed any major development in the constituency for the last 27 years of time, during the tenure of Digambar as an MLA,” said Texeira.

She listed out several pending issues of Margao which includes renovation of historical Lohia Maidan, protecting the heritage houses of Margao, public toilet facilities, pending renovation works of Margao municipal market, no maintenance of Ana Fonte garden among others.

“Being an MLA it was a duty of the Digambar Kamat to take initiatives in providing at least basic infrastructure. Margao is lagging behind other towns of the State, despite being a commercial town. Our market is the same as before and there are no facelifts. It is shocking to note that even the repairing of gutters is not done properly in the city,” alleged Texeira.

Adding that there is absolutely no procedure for garbage disposal in Margao, Texeira said, ‘When tourists come to Margao, all they see is garbage piling up everywhere. The market area is not developed. Old buildings are in shambles. Nothing has been revamped. People of Margao must wake up to these realities and bring a new face that can change the constituency with development as the only focus.’

She further questioned that for how many years people of Margao should wait to see the development under the Kamat? And hence it is high time that there is need for change.

“All the major development can be witnessed only in Fatorda, but why not in Margao?” he questioned.

He further appealed to the people of Margao to bring change in Margao by supporting TMC.
