PANIM: The action of the BJP government to take down banners of other political parties while allowing banners of its own party to be put up has upset the likes of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Goa Forward Party (GFP) Revolutionary Goans and Congress.

These parties have questioned on what basis was BJP allowed to put banners on electric poles when directions had been issued by the State Electricity Department to remove all banners of all political parties. They accused the BJP of trying to intimidate them.
In some cases, the banners of political parties on billboards or flags at various places in the State were removed too.
“The BJP government has used its machinery to remove the flags and banners of Trinamool Congress party that were put in the State of Goa and replacing the flags and banners with their own BJP flags and banners because Amit Shah was visiting Goa today. This is not the kind of politics people of Goa appreciate. People of Goa have seen through all this,” said TMC Goa leader Advocate Yatish Naik.
He said BJP had done this as a knee-jerk reaction after seeing TMC get accepted by the people of Goa. He said people of Goa have decided to vote against the BJP and they are seeing these tendencies and seeing these acts of misuse of government machinery.

RG’s president Viresh Borkar also criticised the BJP government for not following its order while AAP Goa convenor Rahul Mhambre said these acts of removing banners show the desperation on the part of BJP.
Congress too held a protest over this issue on Thursday.
