MAPUSA: Anjuna Gymkhana drubbed Saligao United Sports Club 3-0 to enter into the Late Anthony & Santana Carvalho Memorial Soccer Cup organised by St Savio’s SC, Calangute, at Calangute Association ground, on Saturday.
Anjuna Gymkhana put up an all round performance to outclass their opponents.
Anjuna started brightly where Rohan Kamble 22-yard shot missed the post by inches.
In the 13th minute, Anjuna took the lead through Rohan Kamble’s placement shot off Samuel D’souza’s cross.
Saligao came close to equalising but Shadab shaikh missed the opportunity to score.
On crossing ends, in 48th minute, Anjuna scored their second goal as Samuel D’souza chipped the ball over the onrushing rival goalkeeper.
In the 61st minute, Anjuna scored their third goal as Vinayak Mulgaonkar 30-yard curling free-kick entered the back of the nylons.
Saligao tried their best to come back but their forwards lacked the finishing touch.
