MAPUSA: Siolim Veterans had to wait for the penalty shootout before they got the better of Nuvem Veterans by 5-2 margin in the All Goa Veterans Football tournament organised by Bardez Veterans at Candolim ground, on Sunday.
Nuvem took the lead through Domnic’s strike only to find Sherwin Lob level terms, 1-1. In the penalty shootout for Siolim, Agnelo, Sherwin, Clifford and Bobbian scored, while for Nuvem only Agnelo scored.
In the earlier matches, Bardez Veterans outplayed Parra Veterans 3-0.
All the goals for the winners came in the second session of play. Miskin drew the first blood with Andrew netting a brace.
Verna trounced Candolim by 5-1 margin. The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by Ricardo. On crossing over, the other two goals for Verna were scored by Nicalau and Santan, while the consolation goal was netted by Santu.
Cunchelim defeated Just Fitness 1-0. The all-important goal came in the second session from a long ranger by Naresh, 1-0.
