Uzma faced a much taller and very experienced Khusboo Barthe of Bhopal Women’s Boxing Academy in the final.
Keeping compact guards, Uzma moved side-to-side, evading the long punches of her opponent in the first two rounds. Uzma thereafter moved in close and worked on Khusboo’s stomach. Whilst Uzma was awarded the Best Loser, Deepika Verma of Bhopal Women’s Boxing Academy was awarded the Most Potential Boxer and World Youth Silver medallist won the coveted Best Boxer of the tournament awards.
The 10-day training-cum competition for women was Goa Boxing Association’s long term development plan to train boxers for the forthcoming 36th National Games to be hosted in Goa.
