MUMBAI: Dempo Sports Club have signed India international Nirmal Chettri on loan from Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Kerala Blasters for the remaining part of the 2014-15 season, Goal can reveal.
Though the deal did take place a few days ago, it was too late for the club to register him for the ongoing Federation Cup.
The former East Bengal and Mohun Bagan defender had a mixed ISL campaign with David James preferring Sandesh Jhinghan on most occasions to occupy the right-back slot.
On the other hand, Carlos Hernandez, the marquee player for the Goan giants is expected to start training with his new club from Tuesday.
