MARGAO: Hosts Ghumteshwar Warriors defeated Stamina CC by three runs in a nail-biting final to emerge champions in the 6th edition of Ghumteshwar Warriors T-20 cricket tournament at SAG ground, Curchorem, on Sunday.
Batting first Ghumteshwar Warrior scored 170 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Stamina CC riding of the superb half centuries of Rupesh Sarvankar and Siddhesh Arora almost reached the target but fell short of just fours runs.
The winners were richer by Rs 50,000 and a trophy while Stamina CC had to settle with a cash purse of Rs 30,000. Amar Arkas and Audoot Amonkar of Ghumteshwar Warriors were adjudged as the best batsman and best bowler of the tournament while Rupesh Sarvankar of Stamina CC was declared player of the tournament.
Nilesh Cabral, MLA of Curchorem Constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
