PANJIM: Goa government will recruit 125 coastal police including 35 Sub-Inspectors, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The Cabinet approved the creation of 125 technical posts for coastal security for the nine interceptor boats.
They include 21 PSIs as masters; 14 PSIs as engine drivers among others.
The coastal police scheme had been approved by the Union government from April 2011 and is supposed to be implemented in five years.
Goa has seven sanctioned coastal police stations out of which four are operational.
The nine boats include six of 12 tonne capacity and three of 5 tonne capacity.
The cabinet also cleared the proposal for schemes and financial assistance for the Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd to encourage local farmers to go in for sugarcane cultivation.
Under the scheme the factory will be entitled to government financial assistance in the form of share capital and subsidy in the form of support price based on estimate and expenditure approved by the government in the budget.
