PANJIM: Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) on Monday finally delivered 1000 wet and dry dustbin trolleys to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP). The delivery was pending for the past year.
Addressing the media, Panjim Mayor Surendra Furtado said, “CCP is thankful to GSUDA and to Urban Development minister Francis D’Souza for helping CCP in supplying 1000 dustbin trolleys – 500 green dustbin trolleys which will be used for wet waste and 500 blue dustbin trolleys which would be used for dry waste free of cost. The wheeled waste bins are of 240 litres capacity each.”
He added, “The dustbin trolleys will be given to the ward supervisors and wet waste will be collected on a daily basis. The dry waste will be collected twice a week. It took GSUDA over a year to supply us the trolleys. We needed these trolleys as the existing ones are spoilt underneath.”
He added that CCP has applied for 100 bio toilets to be put around the city and has written to GSUDA asking them to provide 25 weed cutting machines and four small rickshaws to pick up emergency waste. “Rickshaws have already been given to other municipalities, but we are yet to receive them,” he added.
