Cansaulim Market – a danger zone

Cansaulim Market is flanked by all sides of shops and so also a fish market. Through this market is the road coming from Dabolim airport. The road passes through leading to Colva onwards on the south and to the east to Verna Highway. One can just imagine the heavy traffic passing through the market road.
To add to this congestion two wheelers, four wheelers and even pick ups and delivery vans are parked randomly with the result it become difficult for pedestrians to move freely in this area.
There is also a bus stop to board and alight the passengers but this place one sees delivery vans parked with the result the passengers have to alight on the middle of the road. Thus the place is not only a danger zone but a real trap.
I had made a proposal to the Panchayat on July 25, 2012 proposing No Parking, Parking and allotment of places for two-wheelers, four wheelers and pick-ups. The same was approved and a resolution was passed on July 29, 2012.
I had also sent a reminder, but to no avail. With the constant change of guard at the Panchayat nobody cared to follow up. According to my sources the RTO Department had surveyed the spots, but thereafter no further action.
Under the prevailing circumstances I would like to request the RTO in coordination with Police Department to do the needful before any tragic accident takes place. In the meantime it will help the situation if traffic constable is posted at the place.
