Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim defeated Corps of Signals 1-0 in GFA’s First Division League at Cuncolim ground, on Wednesday.
The all-important goal came in the 43rd minute through striker Vitorino Fernandes.
Santa Cruz dominated the first half and had umpteen scoring chances with Vitorino Fernandes and Djon Fernandes spurning the easiest scoring chances in the first 30 minutes.
Santa Cruz’s Levino Fernandes’ header missed the mark narrowly.
The match winner came in the 43rd minute when striker Vitorino Fernandes’ snap shot bulged the net after he received a through pass from Djon Fernandes.
Stung by the setback, Corps of Signals tried their best to neutralise the lead but failed to find success.
