PANJIM: Goa Forward Party’s (GFP) Women’s wing chief Ashma Sayed on Wednesday resigned from the post of Vice Chairman of State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation as a mark of protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Sayed took to social media to announce her resignation, which she attributed to passage of CAA in the Parliament.
“I have resigned as Vice Chairman, Goa State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation as mark of protest against #CAA,” she tweeted.
GFP has been against the passage of CAA with its chief Vijai Sardesai criticising the State government for defending a legislation which is very much “discriminating” and has “disturbed” the “peace” of India.
Opposition parties in Goa and other parts of India have been protesting the CAA demanding its repeal. In Goa, five rallies have been held opposing the law.
