Prithvi Shaw and Akriti Agarwal part ways six months after engagement

India cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media personality and actress Akriti Agarwal have decided to end their relationship around six months after announcing their engagement.

Agarwal confirmed their separation in a statement shared on social media on Thursday. She said the decision was mutual and came after the couple realised that their goals and circumstances for the future were different.

In her statement, Agarwal said the couple continued to care deeply for each other but had accepted that their paths were no longer meant to remain together. She also requested privacy and urged people not to speculate about the reasons behind their decision.

“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future,” Agarwal wrote.

She added that their responsibilities and the circumstances they were facing had led them to mutually decide to go their separate ways.

“I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward,” she said, while asking people to respect their space during what she described as a difficult time.

Shaw and Agarwal had announced their engagement on March 8, 2026. The cricketer shared a series of photographs from the occasion on Instagram, including a picture in which he was seen proposing to Agarwal on one knee. The couple also posed together showing their engagement rings.

At the time, Shaw had shared a romantic caption with the photographs, writing, “From sixes on the field to a lifetime of hits off it. She’s my perfect innings!”

The separation comes at a significant stage in Shaw’s cricket career. The right-handed batter, who made his India debut in 2018, had burst onto the international scene with a century on his Test debut against the West Indies.

However, his career has subsequently faced several setbacks. Shaw was released from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad in October 2024 and has since continued his domestic career with Maharashtra.

He was also among the players who initially went unsold at the IPL 2026 auction before Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 75 lakh in the accelerated round. Despite being picked by the franchise, Shaw did not feature in a single match during the 2026 IPL season.

Following Agarwal’s announcement, Shaw also removed his engagement photographs from his Instagram profile.

Neither side has publicly disclosed any further details about the circumstances surrounding their decision. Agarwal has specifically asked people to avoid assumptions or speculation and to respect their privacy as both move forward separately.
