Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday said he had “never met or known” Disha Salian, while responding to the CBI’s FIR into her 2020 death. Thackeray described the repeated linking of his name to the case as an “evidence-free attempt at character assassination”.
The CBI registered the FIR on September 13 following a Bombay High Court order directing a probe into Salian’s death. The FIR mentions Thackeray and several other individuals whose roles are to be examined during the investigation. However, a CBI official clarified that no one has been named as an accused at this stage and that further action will depend on the evidence gathered during the probe.

In a post on X, Thackeray alleged that a “relentless smear campaign” had been carried out against him for nearly six years. He said he initially avoided revealing his identity following the incident but would now “stand firm” against the allegations.
