MARGAO: Margao MLA & Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has expressed satisfaction over the outcome of Wednesday’s high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to drop the idea of constructing the Kadamba Bus Stand at Margao on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Thus, the State will now bear the cost of construction of bus stand on its own.
The meeting was attended by Transport Minister, KTC Chairman, and Fatorda MLA.
“It is important to preserve the land for posterity. I always emphasised a non-PPP model as it results in the property rights passing on to the developer,” said Kamat.
“I am happy that after a wait of 9 long years, the much-needed project will move ahead. I hope the Government will expedite the procedural formalities to ensure that the actual work commences soon,” he added.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said, “To preserve the land for the benefit of the people of Goa and not for the exploitation of private developers, we have decided to drop the PPP model. We will pursue the implementation of the project by taking all stakeholders into confidence, as done in the past”.
