PANJIM: Goa’s Anshuman Agarwal put up a sensational performance to win a bronze medal in Sub-Junior Boys category, at the UTT National Ranking (South Zone) Table Tennis Championships in Thiruvananthapuram.
In the semi-finals, Anshuman went down fighting to India number 3 ranked Divyansh Srivastava with a 11-13, 11-7, 11-5, 16-14 scoreline.
Anshuman defeated several top ranked India players enroute to the semi-finals. In round of 32, Anshuman beat Rudra Narayan Ghosh of West Bengal who is ranked India number 13.
Shivan Chandra of Uttar Pradesh having India 7 ranking was his next victim while the biggest upset happened in the quarter-finals, when Anshuman knocked-out India number two Preyesh Suresh of Tamil Nadu.
