Sanguem Sub Registrar office not yet inaugurated

Due to irregular maintenance and poor construction the floor tiles have developed cracks at many places

SANGUEM:  It’s been four years since the spacious Sub Registrar cum Civil Registrar office premises at Sanguem but is yet to be formally inaugurated.
Moreover, on account of the irregular maintenance work by the PWD along with the poor quality construction by the builder, the floor tiles have developed cracks at many places.
A year ago, the contractor was allocated with the work to furnish the office premises and had even procured chairs and tables for the spacious cabins for the employees. However, the chairs and tables have been gathering dust in the vacant cabin of the Sub Registrar.
At present, there office lacks a proper electricity connection and due to the incomplete electrical works, the officers are forced to sit in one portion of the premises, which was meant for storing records and a Xerox machine.
It’s four years and hardly any maintenance work has been carried out due to which the floor tiles have developed cracks at many places.
It is pertinent to note that previously the office of the Sub Registrar cum Civil Registrar was housed in an old rented house in the town area. Few years back, the said rented house was demolished by the owner to make way for one-storey building wherein the office of the Sub Registrar was given its due share by offering premises on the first floor at a bargained price by the department.
When contacted State Registrar Bodke claimed that it was the responsibility of the concerned lower level officers to look after the maintenance of the premises. It is up to the lower level officers to get the work done of their respective offices.
The Sub Registrar working at Sanguem claimed to have made several letters to the concerned authorities to put things in place at the office but to no avail.
It is alleged that the PWD (Repairs and Maintenance) which is supposed to look after the maintenance of the office has neglected the premises of the Sub Registrar, Sanguem.
The citizens have called upon MLA Prasad Gaonkar to look into the matter.
