CALANGUTE: Residents of Calangute, Parra, Guirim, Saligao and surrounding areas took part in a candlelight procession to demand justice for Fr Bismarque Dias at Saligao on Sunday. The villagers, young and old, come out in large numbers despite the day being one of rest.
Fr Miranda, chaplain of the Khobra Vaddo Chapel, urged the people to join the fight in large numbers in the spirit of Fr Bismarque. He said that it is time for the people to wake up and fight to save Goa before it is too late.
A short musical programme was also put up by the youth in front of Mae de Deus Church, Saligao.
They sung hymns and songs that were dear to Fr Bismarque and urged the people to join in the solidarity programme meant to seek justice for the “great leader” and social activist of Goa.
“We should organise a similar candlelight procession in Calangute, but unfortunately, nobody wants to take the lead. Will someone come forward and lead us?” said a Calangute local.
