AMBELIM: Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim blanked Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 4-0 in the Goa Professional League match, at Ambelim ground on Monday.
Cavelossim started on the front foot and tested the CSM Taleigao keeper in the second minute when Mathew Colaco dribbled past the couple of rival defender before unleashing a powerful strike from inside the box, which was brilliantly saved by Taleigao keeper Rohan Sheikh.
In the 5th minute, Taleigao Jerose Oliveira’s strike was easily collected by Cavelossim keeper Agnelo Gomes.
Cavelossim nearly took the lead in the 12 minute when Joshuah Vaz ran down the left flank and his goal bound strike was thwarted by Taleigao defender Ramesh Palkar.
In the 38th minute, Taleigao’s Gourav Kankonkar set up Jerose Olieveira on the edge of Cavelossim box but the latter failed to guide his effort into the goal. There were no scores at half-time.
Crossing ends, Cavelossim manager introduced Daulat Dessai and Gammy Costa which worked well for the home team.
Taleigao had another glorious chance to take the lead in the 52nd minute when Yogendra Thapa supplied the ball to Gautam Dias but the latter shot wide.
Cavelossim finally broke the deadlock in the 69th minute through Cresson Antao.
Second half substitutes –Daulat and Gammy –combined well to score the team’s second as the former set up an inch perfect pass to the latter, who made no mistake the score past the rival keeper in the 72nd minute.
The two goals brought life in Cavelossim side as they surged ahead to score more goals and were awarded a penalty when
Taleigao defender Krishnanath Shirodkar intentionaly brought down Gammy Costa inside the Taleigao box wherein referee Josde Dias made no hesitation to point towards the penalty spot.
Joshuah stepped over and coolly converted the spot kick.
Gammy scored his brace and team’s fourth in the 82nd minute.
