MARGAO: The Village Development Committee of Chandor Cavorim on Friday held cluster meetings with adolescents and senior citizens to know their problems and expectations so that the same could be incorporated in the Village Development Plan that will be prepared shortly.
Around 15 senior citizens attended the cluster meeting and told their needs. They suggested that the panchayat undertake a survey to identify senior citizens specially those living alone as their children are working overseas.
They also suggested that the panchayat organise a meeting with the senior citizens twice a year to keep in touch with them and it was also suggested to get in touch with the Senior Citizens Forum at Margao to start a similar unit in the village.
The senior citizens also suggested that the panchayat through its ward members undertake the task of preparing senior citizens cards for all the senior citizens.
Surprisingly, a few adolescents were present with the girls dominating and a couple of boys. The girls asked that career orientation summer camps be organised for them and also demanded appointment of that a football coach to train only lady footballers.
Some also suggested that all the historical and heritage places in the village be marked and mapped so that the future generation knows their significance and importance.
Ironically none of the farmers came and hence the cluster meeting with them was not held. Apparently as transplantation has commenced, the farmers could not come for the meeting as they were busy in their fields.
