MARGAO: Nuvem gram sabha witnessed frenetic scenes and heated discussions over objections to structures in two survey numbers in the village.
The meeting was attended by large number of villagers who were upset over objections raised by five individuals. The gram sabha unanimously moved a resolution demanding that the five individuals withdraw their complaint filed before the government authorities.
Another resolution was also moved for removal of the five individuals from committees which have been constituted by the panchayat authorities as mandated under the law.
Responding to queries from media persons later, the Attorney of Mae de Pobres Church, Floriano Colaco, pointed out that the matter dates back to the year 2008 as regards the construction of the school building and compound wall in two survey numbers in the village.
He explained that the school was constructed under RDA and the compound wall under the Department of Science & Technology and that these were tendered by the panchayat.
A complaint citing some irregularities was filed by the five individuals before authorities not to issue licence to these constructions in one of the survey numbers of the village. Following this, a meeting was at the collectorate wherein the five individuals gave in writing their no-objection for issuing licences for the project.
Nuvem Sarpanch Camilo Alvares confirmed receiving no-objection from the five individuals who did not attend the gram sabha to avoid untoward incident.
