PANJIM: Gaurav Madkaikar won the Ponda Taluka level rapid chess tournament organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at VHP hall, Khadpabandh, Ponda, on Monday.
International Arbiter Vasanth B.H. was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament.
Milind Gauns, Devesh Naik, Sunay Pai and Rahul Bharadwaj secured 2nd to 5th place respectively.
The certificates and trophies were distributed at the hands of chief guest Vasanth B.H., Avdhut Kamat (guest of honour), Sagar Sakordekar (president, PTCA), Amogh Namshiker (secretary, PTCA) and Sandesh Naik (vice-president, PTCA). Dr Shantanu Gauns compered and Sandesh Naik proposed vote of thanks.
