MAPUSA: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has informed that as per the draft notification from Ministry of Environment & Forest, all the temporary huts and restaurant structures of the locals will not be removed and dismantled during the monsoon.
Addressing a press conference, he said, “The draft notification of the Ministry of Environment & Forest in 2016, mentions that the temporary huts and restaurant run by the locals in the private property at 200 metres distance from the sea will not be removed and dismantled from June to August provided these structures remain non-operational during the monsoon”.
He further said, ”As per the notification received in 2011, the amendment was that doing business in the private property was legal only for 8 months and that the structures should be removed and dismantled during the monsoon. But there were a few locals who failed to remove the structures due to which many people had filed cases in NGT against these locals which are still on.”
