RAIA: Betalbatim SC got the better of Fr Agnel YC, Paroda 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th All-Goa Custodio Memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Saturday.
Paroda striker Cyril Dias after taking control of the ball from Raston Costa dribbled past Betalbatim’s Frazor Rogtao released the trigger and shot but to the latter’s dismay the Betalbatim keeper Micky Antao saved it brilliantly.
At the other end, a tricky set-piece worked out by Betalbatim’s Sherwyn Costa to Klusner Pereira move was foiled by Paroda defender Anthony Dias in the 7th minute.
Paroda opened the account through Sezvin Fernandes with an arrow bound shot in the 19th minute.
Two minutes later, Betalbatim’s Klusner Pereira took a glancing header which safely travelled into the Paroda net to equalise.
In the 27 minute, Betalbatim’s Manushan Fernandes scored the match winner and to make it 2-1.
Betalbatim SC will now meet the winners of Calangute Association and Parish Youth Nuvem in the quarter-finals on July 15.
