PANJIM: The FC Goa franchise and the Goan fans will have to wait until July 13 as the final verdict announcement by the Indian Super League Regulatory Commission has been delayed.
The ISL Regulatory Commission headed by former chief justice Kshitj Vyas of the High Court of Bombay along with FC Goa officials met on July 9 and 10 to announce the final verdict but the judge said that he will need more time till Wednesday to discuss and process the order before announcing the final verdict.
A lot of speculation is going around that the two co-owners of the FC Goa Srinivas Dempo and Dattaraj Salgaocar could quit and sell their stake depending on the order.
At present, both Srinivas and Dattaraj own a total of 70 per cent stake in the team while rest 20 per cent is owned by Videocon Group and remaining 10 per cent is with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.
Earlier, FC Goa missed the deadline for signing their chief coach on July1 as the franchise asked more time from the ISL authorities because of the pending verdict.
The ISL Regulatory Commission came down heavily on FC Goa announcing that 15 points will be docked of the club in the upcoming third edition for their unacceptable behaviour after the final of the second edition last year.
It has also imposed a fine of Rs 11 crore and banned the two co-owners from entering the stadium during the league. Srinivas has been slapped with a three-year ban while Dattaraj for two years.
Rs 10 crore of the fine will go to Football Sports Development Ltd (FSDL), the entity of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) which looks in the field of football and the remaining amount will have to be given to Chennaiyin FC.
In the final order by the committee, FC Goa were found in breach of ISL Regulations and Code of Conduct for bringing disrepute to the ISL, following the unfortunate incident.
