RAIA: Guirdolim Club secured the final berth with 2-0 win over Arlem Youth Association in the first semi-final of 30th Mandopa Cup 2024 played at Mandopa ground, on Monday.
Arlem Youth Association missed the first chance to score in the 5th minute when Sweden Barbosa was in the box and only the goalkeeper to beat, shot wide.
Then a counter-attack came from Guirdolim Club and in the progress, Viton Fernandes was brought down by Arlem YA goalkeeper in the box and Referee Milagris Noronha awarded a penalty, which was converted by Akram Yadwad to give his team 1-0 lead.
After resumption of second half, Arlem Youth Association got ample of opportunities in the 30th, 44th and 50th minute of play to score goals through Danny Fernandes, Garrison Fernandes and Achilles Fernandes but all failed to net in.
Guirdolim Club increased their tally in the 60th minute of play with the efforts of Vito Fernandes.
Viton Fernandes of Guirdolim Club was awarded the man-of-the-match for his outstanding performance on the field by General Secretary Claudio Dias.
