MUMBAI: Peter Carvalho scored late in the injury time to help Dempo SC beat Kenkre FC 1-0 in the Second Division I-League at Cooperage Stadium, Maharashtra on Tuesday.
By virtue of this win, Dempo SC move to second position with 6 points while Kenkre are placed at 4th position with 2 points.
Dempo SC went all out against Kenkrewith Beevan D’Mello and Aniston Fernandes linking up well, causing Kenkre’s backline a potent threat.
Dempo SC were denied twice at the hour mark in fraction of seconds. Beevan D’Mello shot came off the cross bar and fell into Nickson Castanha’s way, much to his dismay his effort too hit the cross bar.
At the other end, Kenkre FC’s Yao Bernard, Egypsio Noronha and midfield engine Francisco Dominic tried to break Dempo’s rhythm but Ali Mohammed and Nickson Castanha stood tall. The teams were tied 0-0 at the break.
Crossing ends, Dempo SC missed a glorious opportunity to take the lead.
