One acquitted in Vasco murder case

MARGAO: Vincent D’Silva, South Goa Additional Sessions Judge at Margao, on Saturday acquitted Akub Lugun alias Raju, native of Odisha, arrested by Vasco Police for the alleged murder of a fellow labourer Mithun alias Sameer from Khariwado, following a brawl. 

A murder case was registered at Vasco Police Station under Section 302 of IPC and the accused was charge sheeted in the court.

According to prosecution, on November 11, 2018 between 22.00 and 22.30 hours at Kharewado Fishing Jetty, Vasco, the accused committed murder of Mithun alias Sameer by hitting a wooden danda on his head over sudden provocation, due to which he sustained head injuries and further succumbed to the injuries, thereby committing a punishable offence.

Charges against accused Akub were framed to which he pleaded not guilty.
