CHICALIM: Hosts Regina Mundi School, Chicalim defeated Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim 1-0 in the inaugural match of the 21 st Bro. Slattery Memorial Inter-School (U-13yrs) football tournament, organised by Regina Mundi School and played at the School ground, Chicalim, on Monday.
Daniel Pereira scored the lone goal for Regina Mundi.
In the matches held later in the day, Loyola HS, Margao beat St Thomas HS, Cansaulim 3-0. Guardian Angel HS, Sanvordem edged past St Britto’s Mapusa 3-2. Bethany Convent School, Areal pip Our Lady of Snows HS, Raia 1-0. Fr Agnel HS, Pilar squeeze past Infant Jesus HS Colva 2-1. Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna beat Deep Vihar School, Sada 2-0.
In the quarter finals Hosts Regina Mundi beat OL of Health HS, Cuncolim 4-3 via the tie-breaker. Guardian Angel beat Loyola 3-2 via the tie-breaker. Fr Agnel beat Bethany Convent 6-5 via the tie breaker and Marina English High School, Verna beat Regina
Martyrum 3-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals.
In the first semi-finals, Regina Mundi will clash with Gaurdian Angel,
Sanvordem while later Marina English will take on Fr Agnel, Pilar in the second semi-finals. The finals will be at 10.30 a.m. preceded by the third place match.
