HERE TODAY! GONE TOMORROW! BE PREPARED!

Life is a journey from early school years; followed, by a job, marriage; children’s education; retired life, grandchildren; health-related issues and finally, meeting death.

Life is a string of experiences, from happiness to unhappiness, from security to insecurity. As we pass through this world, we create our History on the sands of time with our words and deeds; which are the product of the self-talk in the mind based on our beliefs. They exhibit to the world the quality of our life.

Man is the greediest on this planet earth; he not only exploits nature; but also his fellow human beings, to strengthen his own comfort. He chases the rainbow of wealth and fame at every possible chance.

Humanness is very important in society. But this milk of mercy is very often absent in our public life; because the working of the mind towards our fellow creatures is controlled by thoughts of caste, creed, colour, nationality and money. So, the impact and effect of such frame of mind leads to hatred, ill-will, violence and global terrorism. We as human beings, live in a world of our own with the thirst for power over others. Humanity has almost completely departed from this world. Man has become worse than a beast with gang rapes on minor girls.

According to Sri Sarthya Sai Baba, “Man has greater poison in him than the snake; his venom is to be found in his eyes, his tongue, his hands, his mind, his heart, his thoughts, whereas the cobra has it only in its fangs.” Therefore, many say that wicked persons throw, self-made, ‘poison pills’ in the minds of others and set them against each other. Unhappy people cannot make others happy. They push people down the platform of success, so as to pitch themselves high. So, we have to adjust ourselves and live in this world cautiously. In the march of life, everyone faces difficulties because problems are connected part of life. Many expect life to be fair. But “Life is not fair: e.g. Helen Keller though disabled was a great social worker. It is in our hands to be a victim or victor. Some people are not able to face problems of day to day life. Their existence leads to survival crisis; emotionally, they are pushed into mental sufferings; and “life, for them, becomes woe and the world seems to say go.” These persons should trust in God because God knows the best for all. To live a meaningful life, we need to balance our thoughts, words and actions.

“In the midst of life we are in death”. These words are taken from the Book of Common Prayer. It means that during our lifetime we are surrounded by death. It reminds us that our end can happen unexpectedly; as life and death exist side by side all the time, all around us; therefore, we should always think of Judgement, Heaven and Hell, and be prepared for death; for we are here today and gone tomorrow. It is not enough to have the best outer life, with a large house, showy car and a fat bank balance, but also, have a rich inner soul, which is our spiritual identity. We have to open our eyes and train our mind to be answerable to God; or else we will live dangerously like a car without brakes.
