The holy shrine at Sabarimala has been turned into a chaotic zone where some Hindu outfits in the name of tradition have been holding sway in the Sabarimla disallowing young women. The government sincerely wants to implement the Supreme Court verdict, which has allowed women of all ages to enter the hill shrine. But the traditionalists are against allowing young women.
The Hon’ble Supreme Court had heard the case for almost 12 years, in which the tantri’s statement was also submitted before the court. But finally, the verdict came out allowing the young women. Then what is the need of the traditionalists still opposing the young women’s entry? It is the flagrant violation of the Supreme Court verdict, and they are to be held responsible for this law and order problem at Sabarimala.
The issue of disallowing young women at Sabarimala has become an international issue and most people abroad have ridiculed such retrograde or outmoded tradition in the light of Supreme Court finding it unjust. It is intriguing though not interesting that some people still are out of their wisdom to see through the truth being upheld by the Supreme Court. It would be better for them to shed their prejudiced mind to accept a very progressive outlook. Such kind of progressive minded people are indeed an asset for the nation.
In the wider perspective too, allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimala is the right decision, for, God cannot show partiality to any gender even if young women are in their periods, which is not a matter of concern to God. When God created man and women, God gave them flesh and blood. Then how can God’s creations be unholy to him? As per the tradition, young women are barred from entering Sabarimala. This tradition is therefore handed down from generation to generation without any essence in it, and this was subjected to surgery by the Supreme Court and subsequently pronounced judgement. So everyone is bound to acquiesce in the verdict for the interest of peace of this country.
