MARGAO: A second half strike by Clencio Pinto helped Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda overcome Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 1-0 to sail into the quarter-finals of all-Goa 32nd Gold Silver Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament, organized by Navelim Sporting Club, at Singuetim ground, Navelim, Wednesday.
There was no score at lemon break.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowd on their toes, as a result there were few thrills at either end.
Midway in the opening session, teams had equal number of chances but their forwards were guilty of muffing sitters from ideal positions.
Post resumption, Don Bosco Oratory showed some urgency and attacked the rival goal. Their breakthrough came in the 45th minute when striker Clencio bulge the net.
Stung by that setback, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim tried their best to neutralized the lead but failed to get past the rival strong defence.
