Jharkhand drubbed Goa by eight wickets in the opening match of 58th U-14 School National Cricket tournament in Delhi.

PANJIM: Jharkhand drubbed Goa by eight wickets in the opening match of 58th U-14 School National Cricket tournament in Delhi.

Jharkhand won the toss choose to field. Goa’s opening batsman Mohit Redkar scored an unbeaten 59 off 73 balls including 10 boundaries while Rohan Shetty scored 16 and Craig Dourado and Sanath Mhapne contributed eight runs each to pile a total of 116/6 in 20 overs.

Jharkhand’s Waibhav Anand clinched three wickets while Iftikar Adil and Konwal Singh took two each.

In reply, Jharkhand chased the total in 14 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Shubham Kumar 41, Shreyash Sagar 46 and Ram Sunder 12 were the main scorers for Jharkhand.

Viraj Madgaokar and Craig Dourado took one wicket each for Goa.

Goa will now play Madhya Pradesh in their second league match on January 4.
