PANJIM: Sports and Welfare Club Zaino and Nuvem Sports Club played out an enthralling 5-5 draw in the Goa Football Association’s Second Division League match played at, Navelim ground, on Sunday.
Either of the teams started the match on equal footings and tried to shoot into the lead from the word go. It was S&WC Zaino who shot into the lead in the 22nd minute through Laren Simoes.
The home side however re-grouped and managed to equalise in the 31st minute through Shubert Colaco. The ten goal thriller had just begun with a long way to go, as Zaino shot into lead once again in the 37th minute this time through the boots of Laxman Thapa however the joy was short-lived as Shubert Colaco stepped up once again for his team making it 2-2 in the 38th minute.
The teams went into the breather with the scores tied 2-2.
Post resumption, Nuvem SC’s made a Joshua Rodrigues made a swift moment in the 51st minute netting his first goal and the third for his team to gain the deserving lead.
Sports and Welfare Club Zaino resiliently made it all square in the 74th minute as Vinod Kumar slipped past the rival defence before slotting the ball home.
There was no stopping for the Zaino Club then as they scored two quick goals through Laren Simoes and Laxman Thapa in the 84th and 86th minutes respectively.
With a two-goal lead and four minutes remaining on the clock, S&WC Zaino laid back to defend their lead however the Nuvem side rallied and pulled a goal back in the 88th minute as Nayson Velho danced his way past the rival defence and shot the ball home before Meriton Coutinho equalised in the injury time to make it 5-5 at full-time.
In another match played at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, Mandopa Sports Club scored a narrow 2-1 win of Tilamola United Sports Club. Alistar Gomes and Travis Souza scored a goal each for Mandopa SC in the 18th and 44th minutes respectively.
Post resumption, Tilamola United SC dominated the major chunk of the game but managed to get only one goal through Macklen Colaco in the 62nd minute, from the dozen of attempts on target.
Elsewhere at Ambelim ground, Varca Sports Club blanked Dicarpale Sports Club 4-0.
The Varca side opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game through Reeve D’Costa while Clive Colaco doubled the lead in the 22nd minute as the teams went into the breather with Varca SC leading the way by 2-0.
Post Resumption, Varca SC scored once again through Reeve D’Costa in the 66th minute before Jhonus D’costa drove the final nail into the coffin in the 75th minute.
