BETALBATIM: Nuvem Sports Club edged past Sarzora Sports Club 2-1 to enter the quarter-finals of Martin’s Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club, at SAG ground, Betalbatim, on Friday.
Nuvem SC held the upper hand in both the sessions and fired couple of sorties against the rival citadel. Persistent forays paid off the dividends and in the 19th minute, Sanford Colaco punished the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
Stung by setback, Sarzora SC intensified their attacks but the rival defenders stood tall in protecting their citadel intact.
Crossing over, Sarzora SC put up an improved display and in the 43rd minute Merilo Ferrao cancelled the lead. Stunned by the equaliser, Nuvem SC went all out and five minutes before long whistle Schubert Colaco struck the match winner.
