PONDA: Some public places in the heart of Ponda town have become extremely hot during the summer months, failing to provide any relief in the form of shelter or shade from trees.
According to Vishal Fadte, the tiles used for flooring in Kranti Maidan and on the benches absorb and release heat from the sun, making them too hot to use during the day.

As a result, people avoid visiting Kranti Maidan during the day and prefer to visit only in the late evening.
Fadte suggests that the government should provide shelters or plant trees to provide shade at Kranti Maidan, especially considering that it is frequented by senior citizens and children.
Highlighting the issue of the bus shelter shed at the Old Bus Stand in the heart of the town, which is too small to accommodate everyone, Nayan Naik, a resident said, “During the summer, many people are forced to endure the scorching sun, while during the monsoon, they have to face heavy rain.”
Emphasising the need for shelters at the bus stand to provide relief to passengers, she also called for planting trees in the town area to provide shade and cool down the environment for people visiting the town for various purposes.
Sanjay Naik another resident pointed out that trees near Devasthan and the chapel offer some shade to people in the vicinity.
