Panjim: The Pissurlem farmer and activist against unsustainable mining Hanumant Parab, who was allegedly assaulted by the cops at the Valpoi Police station said till date there is no action taken against them, they continue to join duty and roam freely.

Almost nothing has been heard of the police inquiry against them which was ordered instead aftermath of the assault on Parab.
Recalling to the incident, Parab said that he along with several farmers and locals from Pissurlem village were on a protest to save their land and livelihood.
“The police came and picked us and I was brutally attacked. Even after getting assaulted I made sure I along with all who were protesting for our future made sure I bring to light the reality with few hours I lodged a complaint against the Valpoi PI and DySP, yet no action has been taken. The DGP had set up an inquiry into the matter after media highlights but looks like nothing has been done till date,” he said.

They had also earlier submitted a memorandum to the Valpoi Mamlatdar and Valpoi police, drawing their attention on this matter. Farmers had given the Mamlatdar five days’ time to act, failing which they had decided to sit-in and stage a peaceful protest.
“My complaint is gathering dust, while we citizens continue to fight for justice,” he said.
He added that already the farmers have moved the High Court over their land and water issue. He further added that people are united and will make sure that they get justice.
