RAIA: Nuvem SC defeated Sao Jose de Areal 2-1 in the First Division Football League match at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda on Tuesday.
A one minute’s silence was observed in memory of late Jaju Fernandes, GFA executive member, who passed away on Tuesday.

Areal’s Vasudev Dhankoy should have netted in the very second minute but his solo long ranger was saved by Nuvem goalkeeper Anrick Dias. In a counter-attack in the 10th minute, Nuvem’s Under-20 Melvin Fernandes free kick was saved by goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes.
Areal hit back and Vasudev Dhanjoy’s power-packed shot hit the crossbar on its way out. Later Areal’s Shane Fernandes try was cleared to safety
by Cedar Colaco of Nuvem in the 25th minute.
It was Nuvem’s striker Selton Fernandes who netted the first goal off a Melvin Fernandes pass in the 28th minute.
In the second half, Areal substitute Sandeep Chaudhry’s try rebounded off the crossbar in the 49th minute. Areal equalised in the 70th minute through Roque Borges off a cross from Sandeep Chaudhry.
It was again Selton Fernandes who netted the match-winner in the 80th minute for Areal.
Nuvem tried their level best to equalise but substitute’s Sanford Colaco shot was saved by Sunny Fernandes in the 86th minute.
In another match at Navelim, Cortalim Villagers and Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim played a 1-1 draw.
Cavelossim could have netted in the 12th minute through Dravid Fernandes but his try struck the crossbar. Soon after, Cortalim Villagers’ Preston Fernandes missed a chance to score.
It was Preston Fernandes who put Cortalim Villagers in the lead in the 48th minute. However, Cavelossim equalised in the 78th minute through Mavin Gracias.
