MARGAO: Terming tutorials as teaching mafias and commercialisation of education, Director of Education Anil Powar said there ought to be no space for a parallel system in the field of education.
“Parents are complaining and agitating that their wards cannot go for tuitions in view of the extended school timings. But is there any need for tuition classes if the teachers teach give proper lessons. Since tuitions have become a norm, teachers too take teaching for granted and do not take trouble to put in more efforts,” Powar said.
Underlining the need for teachers to commit themselves to the teaching profession, the Education Director said teachers should impart the best of education within the four walls of the classroom. “A child will concentrate more in the classroom when there’s no other system or tuitions in place,” he added.
The Education Director said that parents have the right to question the teacher what exactly has been taught to their wards. Powar reminded them that teachers are accountable for the work they do since they are being paid from the public money. “We believe that teachers have a great role to play in society, while parents have a role to play in the health and education of their children,” he added.
