MARGAO: The Aam Admi Party has vowed to withdraw its south Goa candidate Swati Kerkar from the fray if the Congress proves that she had links with the RSS.
AAP member John Philip Pereira said the party would not hesitate to withdraw Swati’s candidature if it is proved she had any association with the RSS.
Addressing the media, Swati condemned the statement of Congress candidate Reginaldo Lourenco that she has association with the RSS, asserting that she had never been a member of the RSS.
Saying that both Reginaldo Lourenco and Churchill Alemao once were part of the Save Goa Front, Swati demanded to know whether the politicians are now in the fray to split the votes in order to help the BJP. “They are spreading false news about me because they are afraid of the AAP, which is getting support from the electorate with each passing day”, she said.
She demanded to know the contribution of the Congress candidate on illegal mining, regional plan, illegal sand mining and whether he had supported the people on these issues. “We have been highlighting issues concerning Goa and its people. Has Reginaldo done the same thing in the interest of Goa over the years?” she asked
Carmelino Machado said that AAP has fielded a candidate based on merit by keeping away religious considerations. Both the BJP and Congress workers are now afraid of the growing support to the AAP candidate, he said.
