MARGAO: Salgaocar FC trounced Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 5-1 in the Goa Football Association’s Under-20 TACA Goa match at Cansaulim ground, on Friday.
In the first half, Salgaocar FC were leading 4-0.
Salgaocar FC opened the scoring in the very 2nd minute with striker Yamursab Pinjar netting the goal from inside the penalty area of Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim off a connect by Stephen Fernandes.
Soon in the fourth minute, Salgaocar FC doubled their lead with Stephen’s ground shot off a supply by Saurab Patel.
Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim in the 6th minute made a move through Steve off a fine supply by Sunny Rodrigues but the latter’s attempt was foiled by Salgaocar FC’s Stephen.
Salgaocar FC upped their ante by scoring their third goal through Yamursab’s grounder off a pass from Stephen Fernandes.
Saurab scored the fourth with his half volley placement in the 39th minute after receiving a through cross from Stephen.
Crossing over, Salgaocar FC netted their fifth goal in the 68th minute with Stephen coolly placing the ball into the nets of SCC Cavelossim.
Thereafter, SCC Cavelossim pulled one goal back in the 72nd minute with the efforts of Affon Vaz’s ground shot off a connect by Sunny Rodrigues.
