PANJIM: MAK Kuwait emerged champions of the 1st 7-A-Side Open football tournament, organised by Xavierian Boys, Madel-Margao and held at Bayan grounds, Kuwait.
MAK Kuwait beat Fatima Boys 3-2 via the tie-breaker in the final.
Altogether 24 teams participated in the tournament.
In the semi-finals, MAK Kuwait beat AKFC while Fatima Boys overcame a strong 3 Kings Nagoa-Verna side.
MAK Kuwait team comprised of Siva Parasad (goalkeeper), Shafeek, Mansoor, Sajesh, Rafek, Shamil, Raheem, Irshad, Jaris and Renju Shinu.
Fatima Boys consisted of Agostinho Braganza, Xavier Costa, Darwin D’Cruz, Neves Periera, Paley Costa, Marcelino Costa, Slivester Costa, Anthony Miranda, Jacob Dias, S.Vecon .
Lawry Pinto was the chief guest for the final.
The prizes were presented to the winners and runners-up by president of Xavierian Boys Rafael Rodrigues in the presence of KIFF president Domnic Pereira, KIFF vice president Austine Abreo, general secretary Mansour and other dignitaries.
In a noteworthy gesture during the prize distribution ceremony, Madel Boys honored Dominic Pereira, Julio Cardoso, Gasper Crasto, Michael Pereira, Brian Dourado, James Rebello, and Joaquim Rodrigues for their contribution towards Indian football in Kuwait and for supporting the tournament.
