PANJIM: The State government on Tuesday informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it will submit an affidavit before it on Wednesday in connection with a petition on Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health report.
When the petition by activist Trajano D’Mello seeking directions to the government to conduct a medical evaluation of the CM’s health came up for hearing on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, through Advocate General Dattaprasad Lawande sought further time till Friday but the court struck down the request and adjourned the hearing for Thursday, a day after it receives the affidavit.
During the last hearing, Lawande had argued that the petition is not maintainable but the court issued a notice to the government for December 4. This argument will now be placed on record through the affidavit.
In his petition, D’Mello also sought a public health bulletin and raised apprehensions that Parrikar’s signatures on several official documents are being forged. “The matter pertaining to the health of the CM cannot be said to intrude the official secrets. In a democratic structure, the citizens have a right to know about the health condition of the CM,” D’Mello further said in the petition.
